The Japan FootGolf Association (Tokorozawa, Saitama; President: Shinpei Matsuura) announced today the launch of "FOOTGOLF PUTT CHALLENGE," the world's first*1 FootGolf game app that uses a real soccer ball. Developed under official endorsement from the Association, this immersive sports game app lets players kick an actual soccer ball to putt their way through virtual courses — all they need is the app and a ball. The Association aims to introduce new ways to enjoy FootGolf and bring the sport to a wider audience across all generations.

"FOOTGOLF PUTT CHALLENGE" uses the AR (Augmented Reality) technology of LiDAR-equipped iPhones — smartphones fitted with a sensor that precisely measures distances to surrounding objects — to transform any outdoor space into a FootGolf putting practice field. Players use their smartphone camera to display distance guides and a virtual cup through AR, then kick a real soccer ball to play. By merging the digital and physical worlds, the app delivers an entirely new kind of sports experience felt through the body, not just the screen.
Whether you are a seasoned FootGolf player or a beginner, the app is designed for anyone to pick up and enjoy. With just the app and a soccer ball, you can play anywhere — making it perfect both as a putting practice tool and as a first step into FootGolf.
